Our History

Steward Steel was founded during an exciting time of growth and innovation following the end of the Second World War. During this time, new buildings were being erected using new construction methods, new architectural details, and new material specifications. In 1950, Fred Steward Sr. founded our company to meet the need for quality steel building components required by a rapidly changing economy.
 
What Fred Sr. started in a 30-foot by 30-foot barn, today is a thriving state-of-the-art steel fabrication company that supplies contractors, erectors, building owners, aluminum smelters, and other fabricators domestically and internationally. Our 200,000 square-foot covered production space allows us to tackle projects from one-story churches to 50,000 seat stadiums.
 
Although we have grown from our humble beginnings, Steward Steel has not forgotten Fred Sr.’s timeless values of collaboration, commitment to excellence, continual improvement, and caring for both customers and staff.

Contractors

We have the staff and the tools to help contractors with design build and design assist. Couple this with our extensive quality assurance program and you've got a structural steel frame that goes up fast and fits well on the job every time.
 

Erectors

Ask any erector who's worked with us, and they'll tell you that Steward Steel is the right fit for the job. That's because we verify each member will fit before it ships to the job site, so steel goes up extremely well, per plans. We work closely with our erectors via timely and precise communication. We provide accurate shop/erection drawings, sequencing, scheduling and deliveries to keep the project on track.

Aluminum Smelters

For over 40 years, Steward Steel has provided many sizes and shapes of collector bars for its aluminum producing customers, domestically and around the globe.  We also provide many other components unique to the aluminum industry including, but not limited to, side shields, anode stubs, anode assemblies, anode repairs, pot shells, deck plates, pot shell side plates, crucibles and pot room tools.
 

Building Owners

Steward Steel can provide owners with design assist, design build, budgeting, scheduling, value engineering, etc. to help take help develop a turnkey structural steel package as applicable to your needs.  We can also assist aluminum smelters with our staff’s extensive industry knowledge, provide value engineering ideas and more.  

Sub Fabrication

Steward Steel commonly works with other fabricators to help them meet the toughest of schedules.  We are happy to assist other fabricators with difficult or large projects. Whether it is large trusses that require a lot of floor space, specialty paint, etc., other fabricators regularly chose Steward Steel to help them bridge the gaps in production capacity and keep their projects on schedule. Centrally located and known for excellent project turnaround and service, we can scale to fit any size project.
